Pet Services
Losing a pet is never easy, and the bond we have with them is not to be underestimated. As a pet owner myself, I am familiar with the depth of grief these losses bring with them. You have my deepest sympathies in this difficult time.
*Please read this section carefully BEFORE contacting me for pet memorialization services*
The most important thing to do once your beloved pet passes, is to wrap them well (usually in a favorite blanket or cloth, with layers of plastic around that...multiple ziplocs for small enough animals, larger plastic bags for larger animals) and freeze them as soon as possible.
This puts their remains in a suspended state where they are protected from decay, and they can safely stay there for many years if necessary, giving you the time you need to process the loss and really be sure about what memorialization, if any, is right for you. Please be advised that pet afterlife memorial services are difficult, stressful, time-consuming work...and they are expensive for this and many other reasons. I am not unaffected by the emotions involved in this work, making it that much more difficult to do.
For pet taxidermy:
I have limitations as an artist, and I cannot make your pet look alive again. I can do my very best to try and recreate what I see in the reference photos you provide, but it is important that you have reasonable expectations of the limitations of what I can create.
Pets usually come to me after old age or illness, so there are often condition issues involved that further limit what I can create as a taxidermy artist.
Reference photos are very important. I did not know your pet intimately as you did, photos you provide of them are my only references to guide me in trying to capture the details of your pet.
I have a work queue, and pet taxidermy is extremely stressful, time-consuming work. My lead times for this work are typically a year or more.
Pet taxidermy involves animals for which there are no commercial forms available, this means I have to custom handmake a body form using mold making and sculpting techniques. The materials for this are expensive, using silicones and urethanes, and it takes a lot of time and labor compared to mounting an animal with a ready-made form.
I currently only offer taxidermy services on pet birds and small mammals. For reptiles I can offer realistic molded, cast hand painted replicas, but no skin mount taxidermy.
My prices for pet taxidermy START at $1500 for small mammals and $1500 for birds, and go up from there depending on the species, condition of the specimen when I receive it, pose and style of the mount, style and intricacy of the display, and more.
I offer the following Pet Memorialization services:
Taxidermy-full body or partial (body part like paw or tail) for small mammals and birds. Traditional and non-traditional styles.
Reptile replicas
Skull and bone cleaning via dermestid beetle. And custom displays for skulls and skeletal remains. *please note I DO NOT OFFER SKELETAL ARTICULATION SERVICES. I will clean the parts, but I don’t do the bone puzzles.
Dry (mummified) heart preservation
Hide/coat tanning
Wet specimen preparation of small animals (smaller than an adult squirrel only), organs, or body parts.
Insect/arthropod displays
Payment plans are possible with a signed contract agreement.
*PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL DEPOSITS AND PAYMENTS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE* price quotes for private clients are good for 90 days from the date they are given, after 90 days prices are subject to change at my discretion. I require a 50% non refundable deposit to secure a place in my work queue, with the balance due upon completion of the work, prior to delivery or pickup. Once a deposit is paid, the quote price is fixed for the project, only changes to the design of the finished piece requested and approved by the client may add cost to the quote after the deposit has been paid. I require payment from private clients via venmo or zelle, no personal checks will be accepted.
